Nostalgia is defined as ”a wistful or excessively sentimental yearning for return to or of some past period or irrecoverable condition” by Merriam-Webster. In simple terms, it's the happiness (or sadness) we get from memories of the past. Naturally, the older we grow, the more nostalgic we become since our journey of life has grown longer—there are a greater number of life experiences to be nostalgic about. This week’s History Lowdown is a trip down memory lane recalling practices, items or traditions that are gone that we miss. It's also a History Lowdown
As I reflect back on my mom’s life and the good times we experienced as a family, nostalgia has been my theme over the past few days. Thank you for reminding me of even more good times.
Downtown Altoona and the neighborhood store did have all that we needed. It was a sad day when the downtown started to fade away. I guess that is considered progress by some and nostalgia by Boomers. Thanks for the memories.
I loved all 10 contributions! Thanks for the memories, Jim!
